Minnie Mouse

Minnie Mouse was a hit! Except for the kids that kept calling me Mickey. I'm sorry, but there is a big difference between Mickey and Minnie :) -*Miss Emma*

Halloween Craft

Embroidery Hoop Spider Webs Yesterday I helped the CAS kids make these adorable spider web decorations. I tried to find something that their parents wouldn't throw away as soon as they got home. :) They turned out pretty cute! Here's mine: -*Miss Emma*

Finally!

I finally used my Kitchen Aid mixer! I've only had it sitting in the box for about 2 years :) Let's just say, it was AMAZING. It will be sort of a pain to lift it onto the counter every time I want to use it. But, it makes mixing so easy, that I think it will be worth it! Yay for red appliances! Baking "Oatmeal Toffee Cookies" from Cooking Light's December 2008 issue. Action shot! Mixed and ready to bake Cooling....yes, I have cooling racks. (one of those "necessities" that came before purchasing furniture) Nathan gives his seal of approval on the cookies! They turned out great. I still have to get used to this oven because everything browns on the bottom well before the top. I will be copying this recipe into my book! Mom, don't worry I will bring some home for you to try!!! Sorry dad, not GF. -*Miss Emma*

Birthday Pants

I finished sewing my first pair of pants....for a cute little boy! C turned 1 yesterday, and I thought he might like some new pants. (and I knew his mom would love them!) The pattern I followed was pretty easy. Now, I hope to make more pants! But, you know how bored I get making the same thing over and over. C's mom is still trying to talk me in to opening a business/ selling my handmade items to Fritzy Jacobs (our local "cutesy" shop).  I still don't know. I love picking out patterns and fabrics for people I know, and I get so bored making more than a few of each item. Also, I'm not that good.....not always straight stitches :) I think I would like to take custom orders for friends. That would be enough! So, if you or someone you know needs a handmade gift........ Pictures of C's pants: The elephant's are too cute! Thanks sewtospeak.blogspot.com for the cute fabric! Ok, so I have already started a Christmas list. At the top, a sewing machine of m

Ruffle Skirt

So, I made my first tiered ruffle skirt....Well, it was more difficult than I thought it would be. Luckily, my mom was there to help me. The ruffling wasn't so bad, it was attaching the tiers together. I get in a hurry and get tired of working on the same thing. That's why I haven't made another quilt. So, here it is.... I love the colors. Especially the navy layer! Thanks sewtospeak.blogspot.com for the cute fabric. -*Miss Emma*

Cold

It's cold outside, I'm cold, and I have a cold! I used to like fall!!! But, I decided what I'm going to be for Halloween....... Minnie Mouse! I bought mouse ears and fabric to make a skirt. I'm thinking of just making the red/white dot skirt and wearing black tights and a black shirt....that will be Minnie enough, I think. And I know I can make a skirt and have it done in time for Halloween. I hope the kids at CAS like it! Also, I wanted to share a picture of the shirt I got at the Country Living Fair last weekend.... Thank you, thriftytrixie.com ! I got tons of compliments.....and questions about whether I made it or not. Well, I guess I need to figure out how to make these adorable shirts/tunics! Made a trip to Sew to Speak this week and I am all ready to make some ruffled/tiered fall skirts! -*Miss Emma*
